Continuing Legal Education

Excellence in CLE programming has been a hallmark of OACTA membership since the association was founded in 1965. OACTA engages top legal experts, nationally recognized faculty and respected members of the judiciary to present at its twice-per year CLE conferences (Summer & Winter). OACTA also offers specialized CLE programs from time to time. Past offering have included programs focusing on:

• tort reform
• insurance coverage practice
• asbestos & silica claims
• trial advocacy
• professional ethics

The quality of these programs has been enhanced through the support of numerous sponsors who underwrite many of the functions, breaks and other activities at OACTA conferences and participate as exhibitors. 

Publication – The OACTA Update

The OACTA Update is a newsletter published four times per year (spring, summer, fall, and winter) to keep members informed about activities related to OACTA and its members. The Update also includes timely articles on legal issues, case law developments and practice pointers. We encourage members to submit information about law firm announcements, speaking engagements, and other professional milestones for inclusion in The Update. Members also encouraged to submit articles for publication in The Update.

The Update is delivered electronically to members for ease of use. Members are encouraged to forward The Update to clients and colleagues. OACTA also distributes The Update to members of the judiciary.

Publication – The Insurance Law Newsletter

The Insurance Law Newsletter is published by OACTA’s Insurance Coverage Section four times per year (spring, summer, fall, and winter). The Insurance Law Newsletter includes timely articles on insurance coverage legal issues and case summaries of noteworthy insurance law decisions. The Insurance Law Newsletter has become one of the most sought after and anticipated publications OACTA offers to its members.

The Insurance Law Newsletter is delivered electronically to members for ease of use.

Publication – The OACTA Review

The OACTA Review is a scholarly compilation of articles and resource materials for the practicing defense litigation attorney. It is rich with information in substantive areas of the law, changing legal trends, case law summaries and updates, and trial and practice pointers. Select CLE materials from OACTA conferences are also published in The Review from time to time.

Past issues have included articles and materials on medical malpractice, products liability, negligence law, employment law, tort reform, insurance coverage, asbestos & silica claims, trial advocacy, and professional ethics. The Review is also widely known for its annual compilation of product liability law.

Various resource limitations have prevented OACTA from publishing The Review for several years. We hope to bring it back by the end of 2007. Plans call for each of our substantive law sections to take an issue of The Review and dedicate all content in that issue to their substantive area of the law.
